Galloway Tourist Route
To make an enjoyable and relaxing start to your holiday why not take a scenic drive to the Park with the Galloway Tourist Route. The quieter roads will take you via some of the regions areas of outstanding beauty with coastal views and natural countryside.
The local ferry Ports at Stranraer and Cairnryan are within driving distance of the Parks. With direct links to Northern Ireland they are convenient for travelling visitors and for day trippers.
The main A75 Euroroute runs straight through the region from Gretna to Stranraer. It is easily accessible from the M74 from the North and the M6 from the South.
Both Glasgow and Prestwick airports are within easy reach of Dumfries and Galloway.
National car hire firms do have outlets available nearby and there is also local car hire from Castle Douglas and Dumfries.
Dumfries and Galloway has a good bus network to all larger towns. You may however find some timetables are unsuitable for routes passing our Parks.
